Muxtar Maniyev — Biography

Muxtar Qəmbər oğlu Maniyev was born on 4 April 1935 in Baku and died there on 22 December 2016. Working across a long career that spanned from the Soviet era into independent Azerbaijan, he became a familiar face in national cinema, taking part in roughly a hundred and fifty pictures, most often in small or supporting parts.

He is remembered for playing Miransah in Nəsimi and for his part in Babäk, and his filmography also includes Yaramaz and Black Volga. In recognition of his work he was first named an Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR and later, in 2000, received the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan.
