Muslihittin Peykoğlu — Biography

Muslihittin Peykoğlu, also known as Muslih Peykoğlu, was born on 20 October 1905 in Istanbul. His father, Captain Selahattin Bey, was killed in the Balkan War in 1912. Educated at Galatasaray High School, Peykoğlu began playing football at just 16 and represented Galatasaray Sports Club from 1921 to 1932, forming part of the squad that dominated Istanbul championships throughout the 1920s. He earned 8 caps for the Turkish national team and represented Turkey at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam.

After retiring from playing, he taught and later served as assistant principal at Galatasaray High School, earning him the nickname "Hoca Muslih" (Muslih the Teacher) among supporters. Toward the end of his playing career he also became involved in club administration, and he is remembered as a key figure in an internal dispute that contributed to the split that created Güneş Sports Club.

In 1944 he took over as president of Galatasaray Sports Club from Sedat Ziya Kantoğlu, holding the position until he handed it to Suphi Batur in 1946. Peykoğlu died on 27 December 1960 in Istanbul and remains remembered as one of the club's historic figures.
