Muhayer Oktay — Biography

Muhayer Oktay is a midfielder who came up in Germany, joined Süper Lig club Beşiktaş and played for Turkey's youth national teams. Born in Hagen, he is known as a player who can operate in central midfield or as a striker and uses both feet.

He began in the youth system of Rot-Weiss Essen, moved to VfL Bochum's on 1 July 2014 and to Fortuna Düsseldorf's two years later. He drew attention by scoring 8 goals in 28 matches for Fortuna's U19 side and then stepped up to the club's second team. He won 24 caps across Turkey's U18, U19 and U21 sides, scoring 6 goals in all; at U19 level he scored 6 in 14 matches.

In January 2019, at the start of the second half of the season, he signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Beşiktaş. He made his Süper Lig debut in the black and white on 23 August 2019, coming on for Oğuzhan Özyakup in the 84th minute of a 3-0 win over Göztepe. He did not secure a lasting place in the first team at Beşiktaş and, after leaving the club, began playing in German amateur leagues.
