Muhammet Reis — Biography

Muhammet Reis is remembered as a midfielder and the captain of the Balıkesirspor side that reached the Süper Lig in 2013-14, a season in which he also shared the 1. Lig top-scorer title. Born in Trabzon, he retired in 2023 and in 2025 took up the post of sporting director at Alagöz Holding Iğdır FK.

He began in the Trabzonspor youth system in 1999 and signed his first professional contract with Erzurumspor ahead of 2004-05. The following years were a run of loans, a return to Trabzonspor and short stops: Kocaelispor, Akçaabat Sebatspor (two separate spells), Arsinspor and Konya Şekerspor. His real breakthrough came at Balıkesirspor, where he arrived in 2011-12. With the club he won the 2. Lig White Group in 2012-13, then went up to the Süper Lig as runners-up in 2013-14 and, together with Slavko Perović, was the 1. Lig top scorer. He then signed a three-year deal with Osmanlıspor, who also won promotion as runners-up in 2014-15. At the start of 2015-16 he went to Kardemir Karabükspor, which had just dropped out of the Süper Lig; his later stops were Büyükşehir Gaziantepspor, Giresunspor, Akhisar Belediyespor and Sakaryaspor, and at the start of 2021-22 he joined Iğdır Futbol Kulübü, which had just been promoted to the 3. Lig.

Reis played for Turkey at under-19 and under-21 level and was in the squad that won silver at the 2005 Mediterranean Games.
