Müfit Erkasap — Biography

Born on 11 June 1957 in Şanlıurfa, Müfit Erkasap began his football career in Galatasaray's youth system and played as a right-back for the club's first team between 1974 and 1983; over the course of his playing career he also turned out for Orduspor, Anadoluspor and Bandırmaspor.

After retiring as a player, Erkasap moved into coaching and had a brief spell as Galatasaray's head coach in 1995. His path repeatedly crossed with that of Fatih Terim, alongside whom he had played football in his youth, and from 1996 onward he served as Terim's assistant coach at Galatasaray, at Fiorentina and with the Turkish national team. The long-running partnership between the two is remembered as one of Turkish football's most enduring head coach-assistant relationships.
