Muazzez Ersoy — Biography
Born Hatice Yıldız Levent on 9 August 1958 in Uzunköprü, Edirne, Muazzez Ersoy is a singer specializing in classical Turkish music. She trained under teachers such as İrfan Özbakır and Baki Duyarlar, made her stage debut as a headline performer at Istanbul’s Pembe Köşk Gazinosu in 1982, and later spent several years as a soloist with the Ministry of Culture’s State Chorus. Her recordings of nostalgic songs earned her the nickname "Nostalgia Queen" in Turkey.
Ersoy was awarded the State Artist title in 1998 and was named a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) in 2006. Following a successful series of nostalgia albums, she released "90’dan POP," reinterpreting 1990s pop hits, and hosted the program "Yıldız Akşamı" on TRT Müzik. She has continued to tour actively in 2026, performing concerts in cities across Turkey.
