Mithat Bereket — Biography
Mithat Bereket (born 10 October 1966, in Ankara) is a Turkish journalist, reporter, and writer.
After attending TED Ankara College, he graduated from the Department of International Relations at Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences. As a war correspondent he reported from conflict zones around the world, covering the Gulf War, the wars in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Chechnya and Kosovo, and the Iraq War.
Over his career he conducted exclusive interviews with statesmen and prominent figures such as Nelson Mandela, Benazir Bhutto, Yasser Arafat, Muammar Gaddafi and Bill Clinton. In 2019 he announced that he was leaving journalism for health reasons; in 2024 he received the Vefik Kitapçıgil Public Service Award of the Mülkiyeliler Birliği.
