Metin Yıldız — Biography

Metin Yıldız is a former Turkish international who came through Galatasaray's youth system and played on the left wing and in midfield in the 1980s, then moved into coaching. He is counted among Galatasaray's legendary players.

His form as a young player earned him a call-up to the national team in the early 1980s; he went on to win seven caps and score once. He was sent to Malatyaspor to gain experience and returned to Galatasaray at the start of 1988-89, helping the team reach the European Cup semi-finals that season, and he played in the 5-0 win over Neuchâtel Xamax. With Galatasaray he won the Turkish Cup in 1985 and 1989, the President's Cup in 1987 and 1991, and the Prime Minister's Cup in 1985 and 1989. He then played for Kayseri Erciyesspor and finished his career at Mersin İdman Yurdu.

He began coaching in 2004-05 as Gheorghe Hagi's assistant at Galatasaray. After Hagi left, he managed Çaykur Rizespor in 2005-06, Etimesgut Şekerspor in 2006-07 and Malatyaspor in 2007-08; his last post was Adanaspor in 2008-09.
