Metin Tekin — Biography

Metin Tekin (born 8 May 1964 in İzmit) is a former Turkish international footballer and coach who became one of the defining figures of Beşiktaş JK during the 1980s and 1990s. Playing as a winger and occasionally as a striker, he was nicknamed 'Sarı Fırtına' ('Blond Storm') for his fair hair and pace, and formed the famed 'Metin-Ali-Feyyaz' attacking trio with Ali Gültiken and Feyyaz Uçar that powered Beşiktaş to five league titles between 1982 and 1995, including three in a row.

Tekin won 14 trophies in total with Beşiktaş and was named to Turkish football's all-time 'golden eleven' in 2003, marking the sport's centenary in the country. Since retiring from playing, he has built a long career as a television football pundit and remains a regular commentator on Turkish sports programs. He is the father of actor Tarık Emir Tekin and is married to entertainer Şevval Sam.
