Metin Diyadin — Biography
Born on 16 February 1968 in Trabzon, Metin Diyadin began playing football in the youth ranks of his hometown club Trabzonspor before signing his first professional contract with Gençlerbirliği in 1988; he spent the next decade there, making 284 appearances and scoring 32 goals, among the most in the club's history. Loaned to Denizlispor for the 1994-95 season, the midfielder later captained Fenerbahçe and won the 1998 Atatürk Cup, before finishing his playing career at Göztepe and Kayserispor, where a serious injury brought it to an end.
He moved into coaching in 2005 at Gençlerbirliği Oftaş, guiding a young squad to promotion in his first season; the following year, with the team again in title contention, he was controversially sacked four weeks before the season's end, though his assistant went on to complete the promotion to the Süper Lig. He went on to coach Eskişehirspor, Çaykur Rizespor and, as an assistant to Hugo Broos, Trabzonspor, before leading both Orduspor and Kasımpaşa to Süper Lig promotion via play-off titles; he later managed MKE Ankaragücü in 2019 and Bandırmaspor in 2021.
Diyadin returned to Gençlerbirliği as head coach three further times, in 2013-14, 2021-22 and 2025-26; he parted ways with the club in early 2026, but was reappointed for a fourth spell three months later and led the side back into the Süper Lig. As of July 2026 he remains in charge, now working with Gökhan Gönül as assistant coach and pressing club management for reinforcements ahead of the new season.
