Metehan Güçlü — Biography
Metehan Güçlü is a French-Turkish forward from the Paris suburbs who made his name in 2019 by scoring on his first Ligue 1 appearance for Paris Saint-Germain. He won the Ligue 1 title with PSG that season and later played in France, the Netherlands and the lower French divisions. He has played for Turkey's youth national teams.
He began at nine in the AS Bondy academy and moved to the PSG Academy in 2012. On 21 February 2019 he signed his first professional contract and was added to the Champions League squad. On 17 April 2019, away at Nantes, he replaced Layvin Kurzawa in the 74th minute and scored his first goal 15 minutes later in a 3-2 PSG defeat; a congratulation from Kylian Mbappé made the news. In August 2019 he left on a free transfer to Rennes, was loaned for a season to Ligue 2 side Valenciennes in July 2020, and in February 2022 was loaned to Emmen in the Netherlands, joining permanently in July 2022 after the club won the 2021-22 Eerste Divisie and went up to the Eredivisie.
In September 2023 he joined Roda JC Kerkrade on an amateur contract, in August 2024 signed for Villefranche Beaujolais, and later played for US Le Pays du Valois. He has been capped by Turkey at U-17, U-19 and U-21 level. In 2018 he said that playing for the senior Turkish team was his biggest dream. His older brother Ayhan Güçlü is also a former professional footballer.
