Metehan Akyel — Biography
Metehan Akyel was born on 9 July 1996 in İzmit. Standing 2.06 meters tall, he has spent most of his career as a center in Turkey's top-tier Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL).
He joined Türk Telekom's basketball team in the summer of 2023, saying at the time that his goal was to help the club reach the top of European competition, and he was still with the club through the 2024 season. In a 2020 interview, he had spoken about how that season had built his confidence on court.
In the summer of 2026, Akyel re-signed with Esenler Erokspor, returning to the club and continuing his BSL career as its center.
