Merthan Açıl — Biography
Merthan Açıl (born 15 February 1982 in Istanbul) is a Turkish former professional footballer who played as a defender. After ending his playing career, he took on an advisory role at the English club Hull City.
In March 2025 his name came to prominence in Turkey in connection with an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; Turkish media reported that he was wanted within the scope of that inquiry and had left the country. He is married to Kübra Açıl, the elder sister of Şeyma Subaşı, the former wife of television personality Acun Ilıcalı.
