Melih Kotanca — Biography

Melih Kotanca was born in 1915 in Balıkesir and became one of Turkish sport's most versatile figures, excelling in both football and athletics. Playing as a forward for Fenerbahçe between 1938 and 1948, he scored 205 goals in 185 matches across ten seasons, ranking among the club's top scorers of the era.

Alongside football, Kotanca was a decorated athlete who won more than 200 medals with Fenerbahçe's track and field team. He was twice Balkan Athletics champion, taking the 200 metres title in 1939 and the 400 metres title in 1940. He died on 8 June 1986 in Istanbul.
