Melda Gür — Biography

Melda Gür is a Turkish actress and pop singer born in 1971 in Ankara. Guided toward acting by her father Feyzi Gür, a performer with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet, she took part-time voice lessons at Istanbul University’s State Conservatory while spending four years studying jazz, step, modern and Latin dance under Sait Sökmen. In the second half of the 1990s she also joined the music scene as a member of the girl group Çıtır Kızlar, formed with the backing of Yonca Evcimik.

She launched her stage career with the musical "Dün Gece Yolda Giderken Çok Komik Bir Şey Oldu" at the Istanbul State Theatre and went on to win the 2003 Selim Nasit Award for Best Supporting Actress; she has since appeared in nearly fifty stage productions, series and films — including the 2002 series "Reyting Hamdi" — and hosted around ten television programs. In the 2009 season she played Lucy the Slut in the musical Avenue Q, and later taught stage-acting workshops at the Volkan Severcan Theatre’s Haldun Dormen Stage.

Between 2011 and 2014 she played a workplace boss in the series "Umutsuz Ev Kadınları," produced by Fatih Aksoy, alongside lead cast members Songül Öden, Bennu Yıldırımlar and Ceyda Düvenci. She has continued her theatre work since, appearing opposite Güven Kıraç in the 2023 play "Yatak Odası Sırları."
