Mehmet Polat — Biography
Born on 8 June 1978 in Gaziantep, Mehmet Polat is a Turkish former footballer and football coach. A versatile defender throughout his career, he was capable of playing as a central defender, right-back, or defensive midfielder, and he earned four caps for the Turkey national team. During the 2002-03 season he joined Galatasaray on loan.
Later in his career, Polat moved to Gençlerbirliği during the January 2008-09 transfer window and went on to close out his playing days with Mersin İdmanyurdu. Once regarded as a promising talent among Turkish defenders, he transitioned into coaching after retiring from professional football.
