Mehmet Erenler — Biography
Mehmet Erenler (26 January 1946, Ankara – 17 June 2025, Istanbul) was a Turkish bağlama player.
His family hailed from the Ayaş district of Ankara Province.
He began teaching himself the bağlama at the age of 8 and took the stage at around 13. In the same period, he took part in Muzaffer Sarısözen's programme "Yurttan Sesler" ("Voices from the Homeland") at his invitation.
In the early 1960s he honed his skills by performing in various music halls.
In 1966 he passed the examination held by TRT and began working at Ankara Radio. In later years he taught as a faculty member at the Istanbul State Conservatory.
After 1980, Mehmet Erenler served as a bağlama artist and choir conductor at Istanbul Radio, to which he had been appointed, and took part in numerous concerts, seminars and meetings both in Turkey and abroad.
