Mehmet Çakır — Biography
Mehmet Çakır was born on 4 January 1984 in the Bala district of Ankara Province. Standing 1.79 meters tall, he played as an attacking midfielder. He began playing football at age ten with Şekerspor before coming through Gençlerbirliği's youth ranks and reserve side, breaking into the first team during the 2005-06 season under coach Ziya Doğan and recording 14 goals and 8 assists in 33 league matches that season. Across his time at Gençlerbirliği he made 89 Süper Lig appearances and scored 27 goals, and he also earned 11 caps for Turkey's under-21 side, scoring once.
From 2008 he went on to play for Ankaraspor, MKE Ankaragücü, Trabzonspor and Kardemir Karabükspor, returned to Ankaragücü once more in 2013, and later turned out for Elazığspor and Samsunspor before finishing his career at Kastamonuspor 1966 and Tuzlaspor.
