Mehmet Ali Has — Biography

Mehmet Ali Has was a Turkish international footballer and later a manager, born in 1927 in Istanbul. He spent much of his career as a forward for Fenerbahçe and Beykoz, and his long association with Fenerbahçe made him one of the club's legendary players in the eyes of its fan base. He was known by the nickname "Tarzan" because of his long, unruly hair.

He was the older brother of Şeref Has, another footballer who became a star at Fenerbahçe; the two brothers played together for the club during the 1955-56 season, after which Mehmet Ali left while Şeref continued playing for Fenerbahçe until 1969. Mehmet Ali Has died in New York, where he had been living, on March 28, 1982.
