Mehmet Akyüz — Biography

Mehmet Akyüz is a Turkish professional footballer born on 2 January 1986 in Adapazarı, Sakarya. The 1.85 m tall forward developed in the Sakaryaspor youth system and made his professional debut with the club's first team in the 2005-06 season.

After a loan spell at Fethiyespor and a stint at Bozüyükspor, he joined Gençlerbirliği in the 2007-08 mid-season window and made his Süper Lig debut. Loan moves to Sakaryaspor, Şanlıurfaspor and Hacettepe followed. His breakthrough came with Tavşanlı Linyitspor in 2010-11, when he scored 14 goals in 30 league matches and helped the club reach the play-offs, attracting interest from Turkey's biggest sides. He signed for Beşiktaş in the summer of 2011 but managed only limited playing time over two seasons. He then joined Akhisar Belediyespor, where he played mostly on the right flank and scored a hat-trick against Trabzonspor in 2014. Akyüz moved to Çaykur Rizespor in 2015, won the 1. Lig title with Denizlispor in 2018-19, and scored 9 goals in 11 matches for Adana Demirspor in 2019-20. Capped once by Turkey's under-19 team, he most recently played for TFF 2. Lig club 24 Erzincanspor.
