Mahmut Hanefi Erdoğdu — Biography

Mahmut Hanefi Erdoğdu was born on 1 June 1983 in Sakarya. A defender who mainly played at left-back, he became known as "Carlos" among teammates and fans because his playing style and hairstyle resembled that of Brazilian star Roberto Carlos. He is best remembered for the years he spent at Fenerbahçe after signing a five-year contract with the club in 2003, and he also played for clubs such as Diyarbakırspor during his career.

After retiring from professional football, Erdoğdu turned to the construction business in his home region of Sakarya, though as a former national-level player he still occasionally draws attention from the Turkish sports press.
