Mahmut Boz — Biography
Mahmut Boz is a defender from Eskişehir who came through the Gençlerbirliği youth system, played in the Süper Lig and later spent his career in Turkey's lower divisions. In July 2023 he agreed to join TFF Third League side Anadolu Üniversitesi. He has played 17 times for Turkey's youth national teams.
The first phase was the Gençlerbirliği years. He started in the youth set-up of the Eskişehir amateur club Sağlıkspor and moved to Gençlerbirliği's academy in 2006. Although he signed a professional contract at once, he stayed in the youth ranks until 2008, joined the first team in 2008-09 and played his first Süper Lig match against Bursaspor on 6 November 2009. In the summer window of 2011-12 he was sent on loan to Sivasspor. He was called up to the national teams 23 times and appeared 4 times for the U-16s, 3 for the U-17s, once for the U-19s, twice for the U-20s and 7 times for the U-21s. In a 2010 interview with the federation's website he said he used to cry when he was kept away from the national team.
In the second phase he moved from club to club: he joined Boluspor in August 2012, played for Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the 1st League, moved to Bayrampaşaspor in the 2015 mid-season window, and later also wore the shirt of Giresunspor. He signed for Turgutluspor in August 2021 and parted ways with the club in early 2022.
