Linda Nigmatulina — Biography
Linda Nigmatulina is a Kazakhstani artist who first came to the stage as a singer and then moved into film, television, theatre and advertising. She is the daughter of the actor Talgat Nigmatulin and Venera Nigmatulina. She lived in Moscow between 2005 and 2021 and has lived in Astana since 2021; she performs in Brutal Lesson at the Modern Theater.
She earned her first acting fee at the age of three and appeared in a film with her mother. At school she did art swimming and music, then entered the Kazakh National Academy of Arts. Director Valery Nikolaev picked her from about five hundred candidates for the role of Marina in Bear Hunt. Her first fame, however, came as a singer: she was part of Nisso, a five-piece girl group modelled on the Spice Girls, and in 2009 took part in Eki Zhuldyz with Kairat Tuntekov and in 2010 in Channel One's Ice and Fire with Ruslan Honcharov.
In 2012 she became the face of Garnier Color Naturals in Kazakhstan after a campaign shot in Prague; in 2013 she appeared in a DPD Kazakhstan advertisement and co-hosted the Fashion TV Awards in Almaty with Igor Vernik. In 2014 she shared the lead with Gulnara Silbaeva and Daulet Abdygaparov in Eli Gilman's Milk, Sour Cream, Cottage Cheese. In 2015 she joined the online campaign “Heart to Heart” for seriously ill children and presented it's ok, her first European song, recorded in London. She takes part in animal-protection work and holds a black belt in Kyokushin; a documentary about her, The Soul that Sings, was made in Kazakhstan.
