Krikor Kalfayan — Biography
Krikor "Proff" Kalfayan (Armenian: Գրիգոր Քալֆայան; 22 December 1873, Bursa - 2 June 1949, Fresno) was an Armenian writer, lecturer, composer, musician and musicologist.
He was born in Bursa under Ottoman rule, studied music at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, and died in Fresno, California, in the United States. Wikidata lists his citizenship as the Ottoman Empire and Turkey, but every source that describes him identifies him as Armenian, and that is the identification followed here.
He combined writing, musicology, composition and teaching across a career spanning both sides of the Atlantic.
