Kostas Kasapoğlu — Biography

Kostas "Koço" Kasapoğlu was born on 15 November 1935 on Istanbul's Büyükada island. A footballer of Greek descent, he spent nearly his entire playing career at İstanbulspor, where he remains the club's all-time leader in Süper Lig appearances (329) and goals (59).

Renowned for his composure from the penalty spot, he missed only one of the 501 penalties he took in his career, earning him the nickname "Penaltı Kralı" (Penalty King), and he also represented the Turkish national team. He emigrated to Greece in 1975 but later split his time between there and Istanbul. Kasapoğlu died on 5 April 2016, and his memory has continued to be honored by İstanbulspor supporters in the years since.
