Korel Engin — Biography

Korel Engin, also known by her birth name Cori Enghusen, is a former Turkish-American basketball player born in 1980 in Bothell, Washington. Standing 201 cm tall, she was for years the tallest player on the Turkish women's national basketball team.

She took up basketball at age 12 and was named Washington State Player of the Year while at Inglemoor High School. She went on to play center for Stanford University's team while studying sociology and psychology, and helped the United States win gold at the 2001 World University Games in Beijing.

Engin turned professional in Greece in 2003 before moving to Turkey the following year to play for Migrosspor. In 2005 she obtained Turkish citizenship and helped the national team win gold at the Mediterranean Games in Almería, then signed with Fenerbahçe. She later played for Galatasaray from 2008 and continued her career in Turkey with clubs including Mersin and Botaş.
