Koray Altınay — Biography

Koray Altınay is a Munich-born German-Turkish right back and defensive midfielder. His route ran from the lower leagues of Bavaria to Bayern Munich's reserve side and then to Turkey, where he was best known for Çaykur Rizespor, Osmanlıspor and Sivasspor; he left the TFF Second League club Bucaspor 1928 in December 2023.

He began at the Bavarian amateur club SC Fürstenfeldbruck and spent two seasons in the sixth-tier Landesliga. In 2011 he moved to Bayern Munich II, where he made 11 appearances in 2011-12 and scored one goal, the winner in a 1-0 mini Munich derby against the reserves of 1860 Munich. He then joined the 2. Bundesliga side Jahn Regensburg, made his debut at that level as a substitute in November 2012 and played 14 games, but could not prevent relegation. In July 2013 he transferred to Çaykur Rizespor, newly promoted to the Süper Lig, and told the Turkish federation in December 2013 that he had gone beyond his dreams. He later featured for Osmanlıspor in the 2016 Europa League qualifiers and in the Süper Lig, returned to Rizespor in January 2018 and wore the Fatih Karagümrük shirt in 2020.

He joined Sivasspor in June 2021, saying after his medical that he was glad to be there, and was part of the squad that won the Turkish Cup in 2021-22. In July 2022 he signed for Rizespor again before moving to Bucaspor 1928. He holds both German and Turkish citizenship and also played for the Turkey A2 national team.
