Koray Altınay — Biography

Koray Altınay, born in Munich on 11 October 1991, is a footballer who plays at right back or in defensive midfield and stands 1.76 m. Sources frame his nationality differently: the Turkish Wikipedia calls him a German player of Turkish descent, the German article German-Turkish, and the English and Persian ones simply Turkish. Wikidata records both citizenships, and the Persian article adds that he played for the Turkey A2 national side.

He came through German football, with Bayern Munich's reserve team and Jahn Regensburg among his early clubs, before moving to Turkey with Çaykur Rizespor. Interviewed by the Turkish federation in late 2013, he said his career had gone beyond what he had dreamed of. He later turned out for Osmanlıspor, whose 2016 Europa League qualifiers and league fixtures appear in his match record, and joined Fatih Karagümrük in 2020.

In June 2021 he signed for Sivasspor, saying after his medical that he was glad to be there. A year later, in July 2022, he returned to Çaykur Rizespor for a second spell. He then dropped to the TFF Second League with Bucaspor 1928, and was with that club when it beat Bursaspor 3-0 in October 2023.
