Kayhan Kaynak — Biography

Kayhan Kaynak was born on 14 October 1960 in Adana and became known as a forward who also earned caps for the Turkish national team. A prolific scorer for Adanaspor, he moved to Fenerbahçe for several productive seasons before a falling-out with the club's management sent him to Konyaspor, where he scored 28 goals in 68 matches and became one of the club's first star players.

The younger brother of Reşit Kaynak and the elder brother of Orhan, İrfan, İlhan and Ayhan Kaynak, he belonged to a branch of the long-established Kocadurmuşlar family, which stretches from Kayseri to the Çukurova region and adopted the Kaynak surname after Turkey's Surname Law; all five brothers went on to become professional footballers.

He died at age 34 on 9 January 1994 while training in Adana's Karataş district, a victim of the hereditary heart condition that ran in his family. Decades later, in 2026, the same condition also claimed the life of his brother Orhan Kaynak, then an assistant coach at Trabzonspor.
