Kartal Özmızrak — Biography

Kartal Özmızrak was born on 29 August 1995 in Istanbul. He started playing basketball at age four in Tofaş's youth system, spent time at İdealtepe Spor Kulübü, returned to Tofaş, and joined Beşiktaş's academy at ten. The point guard was promoted to Beşiktaş's first team under coach Ergin Ataman at the start of the 2011-12 season, scoring two points on debut at just sixteen, and won the Turkish Basketball Super League, the Turkish Cup and the EuroChallenge with the club that same season.

Loaned to Eskişehir Basket for the 2014-15 season, he made twenty-eight appearances there before returning to Beşiktaş in 2015; after his playing time shrank following a coaching change, he asked to leave and was released from the squad in November 2015, subsequently joining İstanbul BŞB on loan. He later won the Eurocup with Darüşşafaka (2017-18) and the FIBA Europe Cup with Bahçeşehir Koleji (2021-22), before transferring to Mersin MSK in August 2024.

With Turkey's youth teams he won gold at the European championships of 2013 and 2014 and bronze in 2015, and he made his senior national team debut at EuroBasket 2015.
