Kaan Müjdeci — Biography
Hüseyin Kaan Müjdeci was born on 24 September 1980 in Yozgat. Known as a director, screenwriter and producer, he made his mark on Turkish cinema with his debut feature film, Sivas.
Released in 2014, Sivas won the Special Jury Grand Prize at the 71st Venice International Film Festival and was submitted as Turkey's entry for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards.
In the years that followed, Müjdeci adapted William Shakespeare's Hamlet as a television series, directed the film Iguana Tokyo, which was released in Japan, and developed the project Dreamgirl, which was selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market and received an award in early 2025.
