Kaan Ayhan — Biography
Kaan Ayhan was born on 10 November 1994 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. A dual German-Turkish national, he came up through Germany's youth national teams before opting to represent Turkey at senior level. Having progressed through Schalke 04's academy, he built his career with spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Eintracht Frankfurt and Sassuolo in Italy's Serie A, primarily as a central defender while also capable of playing in defensive midfield or at full-back.
After moving to Galatasaray, Ayhan established himself as one of the club's key figures and was eventually named team captain, helping the side to a run of league titles. With the Turkish national team, he has featured at the UEFA European Championships in both 2020 and 2024.
