İsmet Akpınar — Biography

İsmet Akpınar was born on 22 May 1995 in Hamburg, Germany, and is a Turkish-German basketball player. Standing 1.91 meters tall, the point guard made his professional debut at just 16 in Germany's third-tier ProB league before moving up to top-flight club Alba Berlin in 2013; the following year he won a runner-up title with Berlin's senior team and a national youth championship with its junior squad, earning MVP honors along the way.

Akpınar also played for Türk Telekom B.K. in Turkey and shares his profession with his older brother Mutlu, who is likewise a professional basketball player. As of June 2026, he extended his contract with Basketbol Süper Ligi and EuroCup club Bahçeşehir Koleji, securing his future with the team.
