İsmail Yasin — Biography
Ismail Yassine was born on 15 September 1912 in Suez and died on 24 May 1972 in Cairo. He became one of Egyptian cinema's best-known comedians, celebrated for his physical comedy and broad slapstick style, at times likened to Charlie Chaplin. His acting career opened in 1939 through the film Khalaf El-Habayeb, and he built a large following through a long-running series of films carrying his own name, including Lady Anbar, Miss Mamma, The Millionaire and Afritet Ismail Yassine. He is remembered as one of the lasting figures of Egyptian popular culture.
