İsmail Hakkı Sunat — Biography

İsmail Hakkı Sunat (17 October 1966 – 14 July 2004) was a Turkish actor of theatre, film and television. An artist of the State Theatres, he first performed in Ankara before moving to the Istanbul State Theatre, appearing in a long list of stage productions as well as commercials, television series and one feature film.

He was married to the actress Deniz Uğur, with whom he had a child; his brother is Şenol Sunat. Following the earthquake of 17 August 1999 he served with search and rescue teams.

He was shot dead in July 2004, at a point when he was being described as one of the great hopes of the next generation of Turkish theatre, and was buried in Gelibolu. Turkish press reports state that the man responsible for the killing was captured in 2009.
