İntizar — Biography

İntizar Arslan is a Turkish singer and composer born in 1974 in Tunceli, on 24 November according to Turkish and German sources. Her father's military career took the family to Muğla and İzmir during her childhood, and she later graduated from Ağrı Faculty of Education with a degree in literature teaching. A guitar and bağlama player, she first drew attention by winning both the Turkish folk and pop categories of a music contest in İzmir.

That competition proved to be a turning point: when Sibel Can performed in İzmir, friends who had organized the local concert introduced İntizar to her, and Sibel Can invited the young singer on stage. Ferdi Tayfur, who was in the audience, was impressed by her voice and went on to produce her early recordings; the two worked together for many years. İntizar released her debut album, Gelincik, in 1997, followed over the years by Gece Nemi, Göçebe, Aldanırım, Nazar Boncuğum, Ihlamurlar Altında, Ömrüm Senin and Aşk Yağmurlar.

She has also been credited with appearances in the productions Benim Hayatım (2021), Her Sevda Bir Veda (2014) and Eşkiya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz (2015). İntizar, known for blending arabesque and pop influences, is a cousin of singer Yıldız Tilbe.
