Hüner Coşkuner — Biography
Hüner Coşkuner was born on 1 April 1963 in Istanbul. With family roots in the Western Black Sea region, specifically the town of Cide in Kastamonu, she became a recognized voice in Turkish classical (sanat) music from 1987 onward.
She remained devoted to the classical Turkish music repertoire throughout her career, and died in Istanbul on 4 February 2021 after a ten-month battle with bone marrow cancer; her funeral prayers were held at Şakirin Mosque on 8 February, and she was buried at Karacaahmet Cemetery.
Since her passing, Coşkuner has continued to be remembered as a beloved voice, with press and arts circles marking the anniversaries of her death by revisiting her body of work.
