Haydar Zorlu — Biography

Haydar Zorlu, born on 4 May 1967 in the village of Mikail in Karlıova, Bingöl Province, is a Turkish-German actor. He attended primary school in several Turkish towns, including Bayburt, Karlıova, Elazığ and Mersin, and has lived in Cologne since 1979. After a year of law studies, he switched to German studies, Spanish, political science and education at the University of Cologne, beginning his professional acting career in 1988 and later training in film acting in New York.

An early leading role came in the WDR production Ver elini Türkiye, a series made to introduce Turkey to audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On stage he worked with companies such as the Oberhausen municipal theatre, the Cologne Arkadaş theatre and the Wupper theatre. His screen credits include Tatort: In der Falle, Reise in die Nacht and Ein starkes Team, as well as series like Verschollen, Ein Fall für Zwei, Wilde Engel and Soko 5113. After ten years on the Cologne-based WDR series Anrheiner, he left in 2008 to realize a long-planned Faust project. Since 2006 he has starred in the Austrian ORF series Oben Ohne.
