Harun Erdenay — Biography

Hakkı Harun Erdenay, nicknamed "Pegasus" by İsmet Badem, is a former Turkish basketball player known for his three-point shooting, and today a vice president of the Turkish Basketball Federation. He played 189 times for the national side, 179 of them for the senior team, and was in the squad that won silver at EuroBasket 2001.

He began playing in 1979 in the İTÜ youth system coached by his father Kemal Erdenay. He reached the league with the İTÜ first team in 1984-85 and made his name as top scorer in 1988-89. He moved to Paşabahçe in 1990-91, returned to İTÜ when that club folded in 1992, then went to Fenerbahçe and Ülkerspor. With Ülkerspor he won his first title, and he won three league championships in all, being named play-off MVP in 1996, 1998 and 2001. He was top scorer again in 2004-05 and won the All-Star three-point contest in 2006. He joined Mersin BB in 2005-06 and retired in 2008.

With the national team he played at EuroBasket in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 2001 and at the 2002 World Championship. From 2006 he served as the national team's manager, and the side finished second at the 2010 World Championship. In 2015 the federation board appointed him president in place of Turgay Demirel, and he kept the post by beating Lütfi Arıboğan in the election that May.
