Hakan Peker — Biography

Hakan Peker (born 5 February 1961 in Istanbul) is a Turkish singer, dancer, songwriter, composer and music producer. He has been active since 1981 and became known as much for his dancing as for his pop recordings. His brother, Zafer Peker, also works in music.

The best-known song of his long career is "Bir Efsane", regarded as a classic of 1990s Turkish pop; its video has continued to attract press attention decades later. Peker announces his work through his official website, and his catalogue is carried on the major digital music platforms.

He remained active into the mid-2020s, releasing a new single, "Sen Yoluna Git", in June 2026. Around the same time his public disagreement with Murat Başaran over the song "Karam", together with his remarks on the state of the music scene, was widely reported. He became a grandfather in early 2026 through his son Burak Peker.
