Hakan Keleş — Biography

Hakan Keleş is associated with Ankaragücü as a player and, as a coach, with taking Giresunspor to the Süper Lig for the first time in 44 years. A midfielder, he stopped playing at the end of the 2006-07 season and has since managed clubs including Giresunspor, Konyaspor, Kasımpaşa and Adanaspor.

The player from Sakarya turned professional in 1993-94 with third-tier side Edirnespor, and his form there took him to Süper Lig club Bursaspor a year later. After two seasons at Bursaspor and one at second-tier Kayserispor he moved to Ankaragücü in 1998-99 and stayed for the longest spell of his career, six and a half seasons: he made 202 league appearances, captained the team for a period and, in his first season, finished third in the Turkish Cup. Club and fan sites count him among the more important players in Ankaragücü's history. In the 2004-05 winter window he joined First League side Antalyaspor, and two years later dropped back to the Second League with Çanakkale Dardanelspor; his contract was terminated at the end of that season and he retired.

After working as an assistant at Sivasspor he was briefly put in charge of the team in November 2018. His real breakthrough came at Giresunspor, where he arrived in August 2020 on a two-plus-one-year deal: in his first season he won the First League title and promotion to the Süper Lig, in 2021-22 he kept the team up by finishing 16th, and he left in May 2023. He then spent October 2023 to January 2024 at Konyaspor and November 2024 to January 2025 at Kasımpaşa, and in spring 2025 he was in charge of Adanaspor.
