Hakan Çimenser — Biography

Hakan Çimenser was born on March 24, 1968, in Tekirdağ. He graduated from the Theatre Department of Hacettepe University State Conservatory in 1990, launching his stage career, and joined the Diyarbakır State Theatre company that same year.

He served as director of the Diyarbakır State Theatre from 1994 to 1996, then moved to the Ankara State Theatre in 1996; between 1997 and 2003 he taught as a lecturer in the Theatre Department of the Ankara State Conservatory. During this period he also stepped onto the big screen with roles in the films Aşk Tesadüfleri Sever (2011) and Çekmeceler (2015).

Advancing into theatre management, Çimenser was appointed director of the Istanbul State Theatre in 2017 and served as chief director of the State Theatres from 2017 to 2020.
