Hakan Altun — Biography
Hakan Recep Altun (born 13 August 1972 in Istanbul) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. He comes from a family originating in Siirt; his father was the former footballer Hasan Altun, and his grandfather Hafız Zeki Altun encouraged and supported his musical schooling.
He studied at the Turkish Music State Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University, graduating in 1993, and went on to postgraduate study focused on classical Turkish music. During those years he worked as a lute (ud) player in the state choir in Edirne, performed at well-known Istanbul venues, and was a member of the group Aykut-Hakan-Ayşe.
He launched his solo career in 1998. His first song, "Hani Bekleyecektin", was written during his military service, as he has recounted in television interviews. After an eponymous debut album he released records including "Ağlamak Yok Yüreğim", "Nefesimsin", "Yaralı Bir Aşkın Öyküsü", "Hediye" and "Küstüm Aşklara". Known for a repertoire that draws on arabesque and classical Turkish music, he was still touring as of 2026.
