Güven Önüt — Biography
Güven Önüt was born on 10 February 1940 in Aydın and went on to become one of Turkish football's most prolific forwards, best remembered for his years with Beşiktaş. Beşiktaş signed him from İzmirspor in 1960 after he scored a hat-trick against them, winning the race for his signature ahead of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. Wearing the black-and-white jersey until 1969, he topped the 1963–64 First League scoring charts with 18 goals.
Beyond Beşiktaş, Önüt also turned out for Trabzonspor and Orduspor over the course of his career and represented Turkey at international level, later moving into coaching once his playing days were over.
He suffered a fatal heart attack on 24 February 2003 in Istanbul. Following afternoon prayers at Merter's Veysel Karani Mosque, he was laid to rest at Kazlıçeşme Cemetery in Zeytinburnu.
