Güngör Şahinkaya — Biography

Güngör Şahinkaya was born on August 1, 1954, in Trabzon. He came from a footballing family in which four of his five older brothers also played professionally for Trabzonspor or its predecessor clubs, a lineage that shaped Trabzon football across two generations and produced a midfielder in Güngör himself.

He spent eleven seasons with Trabzonspor between 1976 and 1986, becoming one of the most consistent members of the legendary squad that made the club the first Anatolian side to win the Turkish championship and that dominated Turkish football for a decade from 1975 onward, a team remembered as the "Black Sea Storm".

After retiring as a player, Şahinkaya moved into coaching and youth-development work, and he is still remembered as one of the storied figures in Trabzonspor's history, celebrated for the trophies he collected during his playing days.
