Günay Güvenç — Biography
Günay Güvenç was born on 25 June 1991 in Ulm, Germany, and began playing football in the youth system of SSV Ulm 1846. In 2009 he moved to Stuttgarter Kickers, splitting time between the first team and reserves as goalkeeper.
He signed with Beşiktaş at the start of 2013-14 and was loaned first to Adanaspor and then to Mersin İdmanyurdu. He made his Beşiktaş debut in a Turkish Cup match against Çaykur Rizespor in February 2015, and came on for the injured Tolga Zengin during a Fenerbahçe derby the following month to make his league debut. He won his first title with Beşiktaş in 2015-16. He then joined Göztepe in summer 2016, saving two penalties in the promotion play-off final to help the club return to the Süper Lig. In 2018 he moved to Gaziantep FK, making 163 official appearances over five seasons and becoming the league's most prolific penalty-saver during that stretch. After Gaziantep FK withdrew from the league following the 2023 earthquakes, he was loaned to Kasımpaşa before signing a three-year contract with Galatasaray in August 2023.
Standing 1.85 meters tall, Güvenç has since won multiple Süper Lig titles, a Turkish Super Cup and a Turkish Cup with Galatasaray, and has also earned caps for Turkey's A2 national team.
