Güllü — Biography

Born Gül Tut, Güllü was one of the best-known female voices of fantezi and arabesque music, who rose to fame in the 1990s with Romani-style songs. Under the name "Kasımpaşalı Güllü" she reached a wide audience with albums such as Oyuncak Gibi and Değmezmiş Sana. The Romani-origin singer died on 26 September 2025 at her home in the Çınarcık district of Yalova.

She completed her primary, secondary and high school education in Germany. She began singing in nightclubs at a young age and in 1988, at 15, performed in wedding halls. Because her age kept her from working in gazinos, she returned to school for a while, but left it because of her family's financial difficulties and went back to singing. Her first album, Oyuncak Gibi, came out in 1994, followed by Yalan Sevgiler (1995), Değmezmiş Sana (1996), Kırılırım (1998), Zalim Yar (2000), Ve Ben (2002) and Hayatımın Yanlışı (2004). Kasımpaşalıyım, Gülüm Var, Balıkesir Bandırma and Benim Vicdanım Rahat were also among her hit songs.

When she married the producer Gürol Gülter in 1996 she paused her stage career, and she returned to music after her divorce. Outside music she occasionally took acting and voice roles, and she appeared as herself in Ünlüler Çiftliği (2004) and Aile Saadeti (2025). In 2021 she released the singles Bu Defa Gidiyorum and Allah Yazdıysa Bozsun. After the funeral prayer on 27 September 2025 at the Sultan Birinci Ahmed Mosque in Tuzla, she was buried in Tuzla Cemetery.
