Gökhan İnler — Biography
Gökhan İnler is a Turkish-Swiss former professional footballer, born on 27 June 1984 in Olten, Switzerland, who played as a central midfielder. He began his professional career at FC Basel before moving on to Aarau and Zürich, winning the Swiss Super League with the latter. After four seasons at Udinese, he joined Napoli in 2011, winning the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana in 2014.
İnler moved to Leicester City in 2015 and was part of the squad that claimed a historic Premier League title in the 2015-16 season. He subsequently played for Beşiktaş, İstanbul Başakşehir and Adana Demirspor, adding further league titles and a promotion to his record before becoming a free agent in 2023 and retiring in 2024.
A full Switzerland international since 2006 with 89 caps, İnler represented the national team at UEFA Euro 2008 and the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, captaining the side in 2014. Following his retirement as a player, he returned to former club Udinese as sporting director, later signing a contract extension with the club through 2028.
