Gökhan Değirmenci — Biography

Gökhan Değirmenci is an experienced goalkeeper who came through the Altay academy and has played across a wide range of Turkish football, from the Süper Lig down to the Second League. He is remembered for keeping goal in the 2022-23 season in which Kocaelispor won the Second League and for the club captaincy that followed. In summer 2026 he left Kocaelispor and returned to Kayserispor.

He started his career at Altay: he signed a professional contract in 2006, made his debut against Türk Telekomspor on 15 April 2007 and saved one of the penalties in the Süper Lig play-off against Kasımpaşa. From 2009 he played for Kayserispor, making his first Süper Lig appearance against Gençlerbirliği on 24 January 2010 and keeping goal for a spell in 2013-14 before moving to Kayseri Erciyesspor. In later years he played for Göztepe and Gaziantepspor. In 2022-23 he joined Second League side Kocaelispor: he played 31 games, kept a clean sheet in 18 of them and the team won the title with 84 points and went up a division. The following season he took over the captaincy when Yalçın Kılınç left, and he signed a new contract in 2024. He left the club in June 2026.

He also played for the youth national teams: for Turkey's U17s in 2007, in four games for the U19s and in two games for the U21s at the 2009 Mediterranean tournament. On 1 June 2011 he played once for the A2 national team.
