Trabzon-born former footballer and manager Giray Bulak had a short playing career at Balıkesirspor's youth ranks before earning his coaching licence. His managerial path began in 1991 as an assistant to Georges Leekens at Trabzonspor, and in 1993 he moved on to become head coach of Çaykur Rizespor. He then took Kardemir Karabükspor to the 1. Lig title in the 1996-97 campaign, earning the club promotion to the Süper Lig.
In the years that followed he managed clubs including Göztepe, Sakaryaspor, Antalyaspor, Elazığspor and Ankaraspor, as well as Konyaspor, Trabzonspor, Vanspor and Manisaspor at different points, and later took charge at Gençlerbirliği, Mersin İdman Yurdu, Adana Demirspor, Balıkesirspor, Boluspor and Fatih Karagümrük. His final post, at Denizlispor, began in November 2022 and ended in March 2023. Off the pitch, he became known as a pundit on TRT Spor, offering outspoken views on the issues of the day.
In 2025 he stated publicly that he has no social media accounts at all and that remarks circulated under his name are fabricated.
