Gaye Boralıoğlu — Biography
Short stories, novels and television and film scripts make up the work of Turkish writer Gaye Boralıoğlu. Her story collections have won literary prizes, and in interviews she describes imagining a world shaped by conscience, justice and consideration for others. Her latest book, the novel Her Şey Normalmiş Gibi (As If Everything Were Normal), came out at the end of 2025, and she has since met readers at talks and signings in several cities, Diyarbakır among them.
Born in Istanbul, Boralıoğlu finished Ataköy High School, then graduated from the philosophy department of Istanbul University's Faculty of Letters and completed a master's degree there in systematic philosophy and logic. She worked first as a journalist and advertising copywriter, then turned to scriptwriting: she wrote the screenplay of Atıf Yılmaz's Eylül Fırtınası and the series Üzgünüm Leyla, broadcast on TRT, and her script credits also include Kapalıçarşı, Hırsız Polis, Bir İstanbul Masalı, Bıçak Sırtı and Bir Çocuk Sevdim. She is also credited as a writer on the 1999 film After the Fall.
